Sergio Martinez, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 21, after police received a Real-Time Crime Center report around 2:06 p.m., that a Dodge Charger with stolen license plates was traveling on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Pelham, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police.

A patrol officer attempted to stop the vehicle in New Rochelle but Martinez refused to pull over, O'Leary said.

Martinez continued north on the Hutch until exiting at North Street in Harrison, where it collided with another car, O'Leary said.

He then fled to Wendover Road where he abandoned the car and ran off. Westchester County and Harrison Police began a search and Harrison Police, using a tracking canine, captured Martinez on Park Drive South, police said.

Martinez was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of stolen property, unlawful fleeing a police officer and numerous traffic violations.

He was arraigned in Harrison Town Court and released pending a future court appearance.
